Buxton Contest - 4th May, 2008

Best Basses,  Highest Placed NWABBA Band and overall 3rd Place.

Three members of the Band, Sara Harcourt, Suzy Fearn and Geoff Bolland recently did a presentation at the Lions abouts the Bands history and aims and they kindly made a donation to the bands Whit Friday expenses.  Many thanks to the Lions for supporting the Band.

At the recent Blackpool Area Contest the Band came a very creditable 8th place out of a field of 23 and recently played at a joint concert with Poynton Junior Band conducted by Joyce Hall and Brookside Junior School Band conducted by Maxine Holmes.  All three Bands conducted by Nigel, joined together for the joint items, Land of Hope and Glory and The Pirates of the Cairibbean.  The concert was a great success and the bands played to a packed audience.  The roof lifted off during the percussion feature 'Fascinating Drums' played by Chris Hall.

The Band are delighted to have recently welcomed Nigel Beasley to conduct them.  He has played baritone with some of the countries best Bands, Faireys, Fodens and Wingates.  Under his guidance the Band has made remarkable progress in a very short time and is looking forward very positively to the future.                                                                                                                                                                                                          
The band have now returned to the Hazel Grove Civic Hall for their Thursday night practices.
